Phone Slang Now

By Eric Cohen June 17, 2016
The best way to converse with my 15 year old is often via text...and yet half the time I have to ask "what does that mean".

So here's some of the latest in text/chat slang according to my teen:

Plox = Please

KK = OK

Dipping = to leave

Gucci = Good

Sometimes things that are old are new again. "Lit" means a party has beer or weed. When I was a kid, "lit" meant you were high.

Swerve = Reject

And in case you were going to use On Fleek, forget it. Now Snatched is the new On Point (best used with girls)

Boots = I don't know, it's sort of an exclamation at the end of a sentence. as in "I'm exhausted. Boots" means you are really wiped out.

And last, in case you haven't escaped 2015, you should know Ship. Meaning a couple you really want to get together. At this stage in my life, I really couldn't give a Ship about any other couples, but for tweens/teens, apparently it means everything.
