The Cobbler Concierge

Making Old Shoes New

By Eric Cohen June 17, 2016
We all know women who obsess about shoes. I don't get it, I don't want 100 pairs of shoes, I just want one or two great pair. And over the years I've had my share of shoes that I really like. I wear them all the time and beat them to death and then that's it. I'll admit, I've been pretty bummed out when I have to toss a great pair of shoes, so that's why I was pretty pumped to get to try Cobbler Concierge, thanks to Vibram, the sole company.

In short, when you have a pair of shoes where the soles are trashed, but the uppers are still OK, you send them in to the service, they resole them and send them back. My experience could not have been better. I had these old shoes that I really liked, and the soles were worn away to the wooden mid-sole. I received a catalog of options from Cobbler Concierge with a bunch of different Vibram soles. They ranged from basic to bold. I picked a red lug sole that would change my old shoes up a bit. Making them a bit more contemporary. From the pics, you can see the results.

And my old shoes came back cleaned up, in a neat box with wooden (cedar) shoe stretchers and the service took about 10 days. I wore the shoes for work the next day and was glad to have my "old friends" back. Walking around the city, I'd glance at my reflection in shop windows and smile.

Note, in case I wasn't clear above, Vibram paid for my resoles. All opinions etc are my own.
